The final table of a tournament is like a restaurant bill: it tells you the total and not what anyone actually ate. Here is what was on the plate at BMSD 2026, using the official Grand Finals leaderboard and the player stats from eSportStats.
Which kind of team are you?
Every team in a 16-team lobby wins points in one of two ways: by finishing enemies (1 point each) or by surviving (placement points). The split tells you a team's style.
- The Finishers (SOUL): 103 finish points, the most by a distance, with 52 placement points. They won by being the most dangerous team in fights and surviving just well enough.
- The Survivors (Gladiators): 58 placement points, the best in the field, but only 83 finish points. They finished second, 14 behind. SOUL's 20-point edge in finishes minus Gladiators' 6-point edge in placement gives exactly that gap.
- The Closers (8BIT): three chicken dinners, more than any other team, and third place on 140. Their Shubh was Tournament MVP.
- The Pack: K9, Blitz Epigrotive and Version1 x Blue Army each took two wins, which was enough for fourth, fifth and seventh.
Ten different match winners
Add up the WWCD column and you get exactly 18, one per match. Those 18 wins were shared between ten teams:
- 3 wins: iQOO 8BIT
- 2 wins: SOUL, Gladiators, K9, Blitz Epigrotive, Version1 x Blue Army, Welt Esports
- 1 win: Outrage, Team Apex, iQOO Revenant XSpark
If you take away one number from this tournament, make it 10. In a lobby this tight, nobody owned a match the way a favourite owns a league.
The players behind the points
The top finishers of the Grand Finals, 18 matches each:
- Taurus (K9): 33 finishes
- LEGIT (SOUL): 33
- Shayaan (Version1 x Blue Army): 32
- Knight (Outrage): 31
- Shubh (8BIT): 31
And a few details hiding in the data:
- Taurus took 17 of his 33 finishes on Rondo. Eleven on Erangel, five on Miramar. If there had been a Rondo-only tournament, he would have been unbeatable. If there was a Miramar-only tournament, he would have been merely excellent.
- Detrox (Myth Official) scored 47 percent of his team's finishes, the biggest share of anyone. When Myth won a fight, there was a very good chance it was Detrox who won it.
- Harsh (Team Apex) won Best Clutch and took 15 of his 19 finishes on Erangel. Different players are valuable in different ways, and clutches are not the same thing as finishes.
- Areeb (Blitz Epigrotive), the Best IGL, also had three matches with five or more finishes. Shot-callers can fight too.
- The best single-match haul was eight finishes, shared by Taurus, NinjaBoi (Outrage) and Viper (Genesis).
A tiny chat about spreadsheets
A fictional chat between two friends, Priya (new to BGMI) and Rohan (has opinions about everything). The rules and numbers are real; the banter is ours.
Priya: So the team in second had the best placement points but did not win?
Rohan: Correct. Surviving a lot is great. Eliminating a lot is greater, if you can do both.
Priya: Then why not just fight everything?
Rohan: Because the lobby has 15 other teams. Fighting everyone means getting fought by everyone.
Priya: And the guy who got half his kills on Rondo?
Rohan: Nobody asked him to be a generalist. He just was a very good specialist.
Where some earlier winners landed
GodLike Esports, the BMPS champions in June, finished 15th on 68 points. Genesis Esports, BGIS runners-up in March, finished 16th on 67. Neither won a match. It is a good reminder that this lobby is allergic to reputations.
Final standings by total, with finishes and placement
- 1. SOUL: 155 (103 + 52)
- 2. Gladiators: 141 (83 + 58)
- 3. 8BIT: 140 (89 + 51)
- 4. K9: 135 (83 + 52)
- 5. Blitz Epigrotive: 133 (83 + 50)
