Watch VODs, Not Highlights
A highlight reel is edited to show the best 30 seconds. The other 25 minutes, where the winners made small good decisions, are cut. That is where you learn.
What to watch
- The drop and the first rotation: how do top teams choose where to land and how to leave?
- Mid-game movement: how do they hold the zone without fighting everything?
- The final circle: how do they use cover, vehicles and utility?
- Quiet moments: what do they do when nothing is happening?
One question per viewing
Do not just watch. Choose a question first:
- How does the IGL speak?
- How does the squad handle a third party?
- How do they use the first two minutes of each circle?
Take notes
Write each decision as situation, choice, result. For example, "Enemy in the building, they threw smoke and moved to the wall, won the trade." Later, turn the best notes into a drill for your own squad.
Compare with yourself
Watch your own VOD right after. Where did your decisions differ? You will find patterns that raw stats never show. Do this weekly with your squad, and you will begin to think like the teams you study, instead of only copying their gameplay.
Drill of the day
Pick a full tournament VOD from a team in your role. Watch the first circle only and write down 3 decisions they made that you would not have made.
