Four/Five-Finger Claw Transition Plan
More fingers means more actions at once: you can move, aim, fire and peek simultaneously. It also means a steep learning curve, so you need a plan.
Stage 1: Stable 3-finger (weeks 1-2)
Keep both thumbs on movement and aim, and use one index finger for fire. Make this feel automatic before you add anything.
Stage 2: Add the second index (weeks 3-4)
Give the second index finger one job: peek or scope. Nothing else. Hold the phone with your ring and little fingers so it stays steady.
Stage 3: Four-finger (weeks 5-7)
Move jump, crouch and prone controls to the new finger positions. Expect your claw to cramp. Stretch before play and keep sessions short.
Stage 4: Five-finger (optional)
Only attempt this when four fingers feel natural and your results are stable. The fifth finger usually handles a single utility action.
How to practise safely
- Learn in TDM, where deaths cost nothing.
- Move to casual matches once the movement feels automatic.
- Take it into ranked only when you stop looking at your fingers.
If your stats drop sharply for more than two weeks, step back one stage. There is no shame in a three-finger setup if it is where you play best.
Drill of the day
Today, add one new action to your extra finger only (for example, peek or fire). Play 3 TDM matches using only that, and leave the rest of your layout unchanged.
