Don't Tunnel on the First Enemy
Tunnel vision is when you focus so hard on the enemy you are fighting that you stop noticing the rest of the map. It is the most common way a strong player loses a fight they were winning.
Why it happens
Fights raise adrenaline, and your attention narrows to the crosshair. The world outside it disappears. Meanwhile, a third squad or a flanker takes the free kill.
Habits that break the tunnel
- The post-kill scan. After a knock or kill, glance around before you do anything else.
- Listen while shooting. Footsteps behind you matter more than the target in front.
- Check the radar between bursts, not during recoil control.
- Trust your team. If a teammate is watching the flank, let them. If not, say who is.
Team tools
Ask a teammate to call "clear left" or "someone on your right." Players who speak during fights prevent tunnel deaths for the whole squad.
What good looks like
You finish the duel, then you are still alive three seconds later because you repositioned and scanned. You never loot right on top of the body unless the area is secure. Over a month of play, count how many of your deaths came from behind or from a second enemy. That number should shrink as this habit forms.
Drill of the day
In TDM, after each kill, run a three-step reset. Check left, check right, check behind. Do it every time for a full match, even when it feels unnecessary.
