Wrist and Thumb Care, Session Length, Sleep

Mobile esports looks easy on the body, but hours of small repeated movements strain the thumbs, wrists and neck. Pain quietly kills accuracy long before it becomes an injury.

The 2-minute stretch

  1. Open and close your fists 15 times.
  2. Pull each thumb gently back toward your wrist and hold for 10 seconds.
  3. Press your palms together in front of your chest and lower them slowly to stretch the wrists.
  4. Roll your shoulders and tilt your neck side to side.

Session length

  • Practise in blocks of 45 to 60 minutes and rest for 5 minutes between them. A short walk and water do more than scrolling a phone.
  • Stop when your reaction speed drops. Playing tired builds bad habits, and you rehearse mistakes.
  • Keep the phone at eye level where you can, so your neck stays neutral.

Sleep before tournaments

Aim for 7 to 9 hours for two nights before an event, not only the night before. Avoid heavy new grinding the evening before. Eat a real meal, drink water, and play a short warm-up only. Reaction time, memory and emotional control all fall quickly when you are short on sleep, and those are exactly the skills a tournament tests.

Drill of the day

Tonight, finish gaming 30 minutes earlier than usual. Do the 2-minute stretch below, then sleep. Note how you play tomorrow.
